About me

My name is Hanno Meyer and I have been working as a Work and Organizational Psychologist since 1990. I am specialized in coaching, executive management guidance, career issues, psychological mediation, assessments and issues concerning meaning and fulfillment.

My work as a coach started in 1999 and since then I have continuously developed myself in
the still new field of applied Psychology: Coaching Psychology. Coaching psychology applies psychological theories and concepts to the practice of coaching. The aim is to improve the performance and well-being of individuals, teams and organizations by using evidence-based methods that are based on scientific research.

As a coach psychologist I have a good understanding of people and organizations and I have been able to advise and guide people in almost all lines of work and all job levels; often in a search for a solution for a professional issue at an organizational, team or individual level, but just as often also for a solution to a personal development issue.

How I work

As a coach psychologist, I am often asked to guide processes with very diverse topics; from development to meaning. Three main themes can be distinguished:

Focus on Perspective. “Me in relationship to my position”. These are topics related to development. For example: increasing leadership skills, increasing political sensitivity, time management, career issues.
Focus on Connection. “My relationships with others”. These are development topics that concern relationships. For example: tensions and disrupted relationships in administrative teams, questions regarding responsibilities and positions, improving communication.
Focus on Self-Development. “Me in relation to myself”. These development questions focus the attention inwards: ‘Who am I?’, ‘What do I really want?’, ‘Why do I do what I do?’, ‘Where am I going?’, ‘What am I really afraid of?’, ‘What don’t I want to face?

All these themes are about awareness, gaining insight and learning to take responsibility for your own behavior and feelings.

My approach can best be described as "doing what it takes". Depending on the development question and where you are in your development process, I adapt my approach. This can vary from a fast, energetic solution-oriented approach to a delayed, in-depth, more therapeutic approach. You can only see or learn something when you are ready. As a coach I can point out or open a door for you, but you are the one that matters. You either take the step or not. I don't think people are essentially changeable. That's not necessary either. You are who you are. But with more awareness of who you are, what you want and what you can do, you also have more options to direct your own behavior and you can be more transparent in your communication with others. In my work I follow the professional code of ethics of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (NIP).
